STREAM 2
Social Innovation, Governance and Policymaking
Chairs: Sílvia Ferreira (University of Coimbra), Lars Hulgard (University of Roskilde)
Social innovation became a high topic in the policy-making agenda, leading to the proliferation of legislative initiatives and public programmes aiming at promoting social innovation both at the intergovernmental level and at the level of nation-states and regional and local authorities.
It became one of the preferred ways to solve social and societal problems involving public, not-for-profit and civil society sectors in new roles and mixes. We can, thus, refer to governance through social innovation and social innovation governance insofar that it is a way to solve public problems in forms influenced by public policies.
In this stream we welcome contributions relating social innovation, governance, public policies, and power including, on one hand, policies and programmes promoting social innovation and, on the other hand, social innovation in policy making, governance partnerships and public administration oriented to solve social and societal problems. We also welcome contributions addressing civil society social innovation initiatives affecting, or aiming at affecting, public policy and the government.
